(from OUR OWN correspondent). The Waitira Town Biard h«ld its usual moathly nieating on Monday last. Prosent: Messrs. Ogla (chairmin), Ohsppell, Fraser, Hignett, Knight, and Pearce. Mr. Hill, Government Valuer, attended in to the account of the Yalqation Department, and agreed to fix tbe charge at £5 ss, Tho members sgreed thit this was a reasonable huid, but Mr. Higoett said li 9 would like Mr. Hill to explain, if possiblp, how the error had been ma-Jo. by the Valuation Department in Jibe first instance by charging iiO 18s 9d, which amrjunt wa« reduced to .£l2 10*, and', on a further protest, to £5 ss. Mr. H-11, in reply, stated that he was not l-osponsible for the manner in which the D 'par-.mrnt mad' up its accounts, and could .offer no explanation. The Tiranaki Agricultural Society wrote asking the Board to Dominate two o? three members to a locd committee.
