OFFER TO SELL MANAWATU RAILWAY.

Tha director*if tho Manawatu Railway Company lately submitted to tno Government an offer to sell the aetata of the Cempauy for a sum equal to the Ocuapiny's paid-up capital, namely, XI 70,000, with compaand interest ak six per cent, from the time of payment of calls, and sabjact to allowance tf all dividends paid and compeand interest tusroon, the Government to aaiuao responsibility for the Company's debenture debt of £680,000 and all other liabilities. The Premier replied that the offar could not be accepted, aa the purchase money would come to considerably more tban if the lime waa purchased under tbe original agreement. Six per cent, interest during the full time he alto considered too high ; bat he was prepared to oenaider further proposals for the acquisition of the line and land oa better terau.
