Note—The " M " Manure gave the best results in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 Isee page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) : The experiments mado at Momohaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that the bust result was obtained from a mixture of one-third ■teamed bone dut*> and two-thirds basic ■lag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the rmult, at a minimum coat, was from a flTixture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.M K CVs "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M E. Co. s No. 'i Mixture, the proportions .King a little different. The former combination points o the faet, now generally recognised, that the value of bane slag, also known as Thorn us' Phosphate, has been greatly under-ettimated. The VV.M.K Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of .the report of Mr. Gillanders, the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, which will be found is tho Seventh Repori of the Department, of Agriculture, wonld amply repay any farmer who finds a difficulty in "■eUcting.the most suitable manures.
