HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR.
VISIT TO PARIHAKA. A FITTING RECEPTION.
On Friday Lord Ranfurly paid a visit to Parihaka, where ha was right royally received by the natives. As the time of his arrival was pretty well known, the natives mustered in force, fully 500 being lioed up on each side of the road, chanting a song of welcome to the ; r distinguished visitor, A sumptuous lunch was previded, and afterwards an adjournment was made to the meeting house, where a hrge gathering took place. The Governor conversed with Te Whiti for a considerable time, Mr H, M. Sto well acting as interpreter, and both His Excellency and Te Whiti spoke of the pleasure it gave them to meet. About four the Governor left for Opunake. Tbe whole preceadiags wtra characterised by that open-handed hospitality for which the Maoris are noted. Oa Saturday eveßing tha Governor arrived in Hawera, being the guest of Mr and Mrs Barton. On Sunday he drove to Mokoii, and spent the afternoon at Mrs J. R. Lyaaght's, and on Monday morning returned te Wellington by train.
