TO THE EDITOB. Sir,—On the 2lst iust., Waitara had her firat Horticultural Show and as a whole it was a gr«at success, due largely to having ao fea for entries, The imposition of entrance fees had been adopted by the first committee aeaingt the wish of the first Chairman. There were several mistakes which 1 hepa may be avoided at the next shew, if there is sueh a thing. Should another show be held it will be very carefully handled and those iaterestsd in Waitara will have to drop their local polities and help with an open hand, a course which was not taken on the last occasion by these who call themselves the leading men. Some of the exhibits were very good, and somo who expected to carry all before tbem were disappointed. The idea of the originators of the Shaw was to encourage the holders of ;mall sections in the town to cultivate them usefully and ornamentally, so that Waitara might became beautiful for aver.
