They considered it necessary to get £IOOO by private subscription and the city has mapped out into districts for a collection by a committee. It was resolved r.hst the presentation of medals to school children being colonial, net civic, the cost should be borne by tbe» Government. . Dunkdin, March 28. A large and representative public meeting was held to make preliminary irrangements in connection with tho approaching Royal visit. Mr. Joho Holmes being present. The meeting was enthusiastic and unanimous except as to cVai's. A motion was carried to give the Royal visitors a welcome worthy of such a great occasion, and an executive committee with leva*. sub-committees appointed.
