DREDGING COMPANIES IN THE ASSESSMENT COURT.
REDUCTION OF VALUATION,
FER PRESS ASSOCIATION. DOKBdin, March 27. At the Lawrence meeting of the Assessment Csurt the Gold Queen Dredging Company objected to the Valuation .£SOOO on their claim, which last year was only assessed at .£2.000. Dredging operations commenced in July bus no dividend had yet been paid. Mr Stratford, S.M., reduced the valuation to £3,000, taking the value cf the shares at 32e. Daring January he hsld the dredge enhanced the claims value. A DENIAL. WBLLixaTOjr, March 27. Mr. Haußsman, vainer for the City Council, takea exception to the telegram from Hokitika re the valuation of dredgiog properties. He denies any indignation was felt at the action of the Assessment Ceurfc in upholding his vak«ti-n, or that the statements attributed to him and the county chaitman were m»da by them.
