Man are gave the best results in proportion to oost out of 19 exSeriments with Champion Swede Turnips at is Government Experimental Firm at Momohabi in 1897 (see page 170. Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) : The experiments made at Momahaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that the bbst result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steamed bone duit and two-thirds basic slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the bett reiult, at a minimum cost, was from a mixture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.MS CVs "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M js. 00. ■ No. 1 Mixture, tke proportions oeing a little different. The former combination points o the faot, now generally recognised, that the value of baiio slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been under-estimated. The W.M.E. >.'s fte. 4 Mixture oontains one-third of Thomas' Phesphate.
