BURNT PAPA FOR ROADS.

At th( County Council meeting on Thursday the folio*i Qg letter from Coram pawner cf Grown Lmls (New Plymo itit) was road :—I have to acknowi< '2»e ncc:pt el jour favour cf yes nnd lun sorry to say that I am noi y?t in a pesition to suppy you witu y's&Mta ami re'hble informatioa m rcg ,rd to above ou anything of an ex! wle \ scale but hope to be" able to do ro at eud ef p esenc season as I have about a couple of milts of ic now in! hand. About two yeurs ago I tried the experiment on a eimll sc\le doing tome eight or nine chains eloEe to the Kiln where it was burned. The quality of the burnt ica-erial as roid i metal is unquestionable, the few] chains above referred to has been ■down two years and is now as gtjd as the day it was put down although all the t:»ffic pisses over it, tho coating was eight inches thick, the approximate cost as produced at the Kiln was returned to me as 6/2 rer enhic yard, bat it is doubtful if this would cover the cost in most places where circumstance* might be less favourable. I do not expect to be ab'e to produce and sproed &c„ the material on tbs road for less than 10/- or 12/- per cubic yard at Whangamomona, but will try and remember to let you know later on.
