BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Borough Council was held <-n Monday morning. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. E. Dookri 1) presiding. The Works Committee submitted for consideration the names of flv> npplic&BSS, out of a totil of 12 received for tho position of Borough Forfrnm ; a ballot baing taken Mr. Malier was nppointed. The Works Committee also reported rt'Comnwndiug that abattoir* be orected by the Council, and tha* tno Town Clerk sansult the Boroogh ■Soiioitor as to the proper proceedure in the matter. After some discussion the report wbs adoptsd. It was decided to empower the Finance Committee to float the £50,000 loaia at the earliest opportunity. Mr. Bellrieger, Chairman of the Committee, siid there seamed to be .some idea that the Council had not been doing anything regarding tie jlonn, but theio was documentary oviii'ence in tho office which would show 'that the Conomitte'j had in stiio* ■acti'irdanco. with the advice givm.
