Bank of England returns for the week:— Stock of gold coin and bullion, £34,106,000; reserve, £25,031,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 45-95 per cent.; notes in circulation, £28,603,000; public deposits, £12,924,000; other deposits, £41.367,000; Gevernment securities, £12,114,000; other lecurities, £35,439,000. Three months' bills are discounted at 3 15-16 per cent Consols are quoted at 97j. The following are the quotations for Colonial Government securities:—Victorian 4 per cents., 109; 3J per cents., 1021 New Beuth Wales, 4 per cents., 115; 3J per cents, 102}; 3 per cents, 100. Bouth Australian, 3J per cents, 106; 3 per cents,93. Queensland 4 per cents., 107; 3J per cents., 102£. New Zealand 4 per cents., 1 3£ per cents, 108; 3 per cents., 98£. Tasmanian 3i per cents., 103. Westralian, 3J- per cents., 100}. The wheat markets are qniet, hut steady ; cargoes neglected: Victoria January-March shipments seld at 29s 9d; sailer parcels, 29s 3d. Butter is flat and in poor demand; colonial unchanged, tending downwards; Danish, 110 a.
