T sales, B buyers, 8 sellers. Much interest is manifested in the Pactolus, which started on Monday morning. If this claim turns out right it is 1-old that the whole creek, from Uaughesey's freehold to the Grey Kiver, will be rich. People are rather anxious about the Pactolus, as the claim lies at the commencement of a wide flat that extends to the Grey River from the Nelson Creek cl-i •>. Upwards the country is m-re confined. In the trial run the machinery worked well. The New River dredged most of the week without any satisfactory results. It is proposed to take a narrow cut up the beach where the dredge is now working' towards tbe bor< holi which geol pioioeits when put down some time ago. The bore is about 100 yards ahead of the dredre. The secretary r> c the Hirer Consolidated Oredpi.}; Compan •• ;<:<•; ivc.l 'he following telegram fioui tlie contractor on the 25th : yesterday."
