Note—The " M Manure gave the beat . -jults in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swrde Turnips *t the Government Kxportmental Farm at Momohaki iu 1897 '»ee page 170, Fifth Keport of Agricultural Department) : The experiments m.ide at Momohaki with variouß Mamues upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that <ho bust result »« obtamsd from a mixture of one-ihird fttstimei bone dui*i and two-third* basio slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the be t remit, at a minimum cos\ was from a nature of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-lhirHs of the VV. M F. Co's " M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the vV.M & Co. s No. 3 Mixture, the proportions -Ming a little differest. The former combination points o the fact, now generally recognised, that the value of bw-io slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under-estimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of the report of Mr. GillanderSj the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, whioh will be found in the Seventh Kepors of the Department, of Agriculture, wonld amply repay any farmer who fiuda a diffioulty in the most suitable manures.
