ST. ANDREW'S SABBATH SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
Special services wore held yesterday day in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in cennection with the anniversary of the Sabbath School, vvl.cn the Moderator, the Right Rev, J. IC. Elliott, 8.A., preich- d in the mor in/ afternoon, and evening. At the afternoon service the Rev. Mr. Biliott ad dressed the scholars, who, together with the teachers and others, formed a very large congregation. The address was on the subject of the six best tbingp, the best day, the best friend, the best teach"r, the best book, the b«sb father, and the best home, and the reverend gentleman succeeded in keeping the !school thoroughly interested throughout. taking occasion to especially | warn the children and his hearers generally against the sin and the danger of Sabb.ith d<'S'oration*. The superintendent, Mr. N. K. MacDiavmid, gave a short account of the progress of the school dun'n? the pas' twelve months and, in doing so, paid a tribuie to the good conduct of the scholars throughout the voir. He s'ated that the s>ve nw i-ttendance /f children had beea 120 as against ill for List, year, the numbf-r of scholars on the roll being at pie>-'ent 185, as against 163 last year. Thirty-six children hd beea present every Sabbath imd t«n others hud misled only one attendance. Nineteen scholars ®e e reported a? having gone up for the shorter catechism examination corducted by the General Assembly and one for lbs seripture knowledge examination. All these had succeeded in passing, six obtaining 100 per cer>t of the maximum marks. At the conclusion of thip portion of the service the prized and medals won by the children weie dis'rihuted by the moderator. Special hymDS were eung bv the School.
