MUKTING AT WANGANUI. PBH PRESS ASSOOIASPiOiI., WANQAjtux, February 19. The Presbyterian Assembly met this morning. The Advisory Board reported on church extension giants for 1901, totaling £942. The Rev. Mr. Comrie was appointed assistant clerk. Reports of the treasurer and the Examination Board were read and adopted. At 7 p.m the Almanac Committee's report was read. It was resolved to publish a booklet of chureh information next year, A letter and address from the local Ministers' Association, expressing their high esteem for the Assembly, recognising that the churoh is in tbe vanguard of moral reform, and praying the divine blessing -pon the church to withstand sicerih talism, to promote moral reform, and to lead men to re-
[ pentanca, was received with gratitude. On the motion of Dr. Elmjlift the miuutes were adopted re the late Beys, Wright. Hcadrjofc, and Gow, The Chinese mission report was read by the Rev. Mr. Stewart. Mr. Lue, the missionary, continues his work among his fellow countrymen, There were no baptisms bnt several were believed to he Christians,
The Rev, JSlr. Ryburn read the repprt of the Temporanoe Cemmittes and emphasised the weight of Lord Roberts' appeal. The Committee protested against licenses in the King Country. Temperance sermons were ordered to be preached iu November. The auditors were re-elected. Votes of thanks were passed to the office; boarers and congregation of St. Paul's
for their hospitality. A tea meeting and river pionio was givsi\ to the local press an<i press age' cy the Goven ojm of the Girls Oollfge, the BawliDg and Rawing Clubs. _ ! The Moderator gava a retiring address and thanked the mtmbers for their kindness in assisting him in a most enjoyable Assembly. The Assembly adjoarned till the mooting in November at Duoedin,
