THE INDIAN TROOPS.
(Efm PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, February 19. The Dalhousi?, with tho Indian troops, left for Gisborne at four p.m. Colonel Pole-Penton sailed in the Dalhoase, but Colonel Peyton, who commands the Contingent, remained behind, his intention being to go by the West Coast to New Plymouth. j Wkllisgton, February 19.
The Indian troops will come to Wellington from Napier and New Plymouth by rail. A quarter of an hour's stoppage will be made at the principal stations en rauin. The troops will march through Wellington on Monday afternoon.
VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. Is reply to his enquiries, the Mayer }Mr. Dockrill) yesterday received the ollowing :—ln reply to your wire, it is decided to take the Indian troops from Napier to New Plymouth by train. They will arrive early on Saturday morning, spending S iturday there and laare by special train for Wellington: •a Sunday morning. The arrangement was only fixed definitely this morning. Mr. Seddon will wire youj fully en the matter.—J. G. Ward. All well Indian troops will reach 1 New Plymouth by train from Napier; require about one hundred horses; probably settlers there will grant them use of their horses. Troops will find their own saddlery. Could cot give any longer notice; feel sure the people of New Plymouth and Taranaki district will be equal to the occasion,—K, J, Biddojc.
It will be seen that the Mayor has called a publio meeting for this evening to fix up a programme for entertaining these distinguished and interesting visiters in a manner worthy of the tows aad district.
