[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. | Wellington, February 7, The area under crop, and estimated yield in different cereals, as calculated by the Agricultural Department, it a» follows:—Wheat, 206.465 acre* at 27 bushels per acre, 5,574,555 butheh; oHta. 449,534 acr.s at 34 bushels, 15,284,156 bushels; barley, 30,831 acres at 30 bushels, 924,930 bushels. Thn visible amount of wheat on hand at 28th February, 1900, was stated at 12,514,350 bushels, and of this the following quantities have been consumed: —Seed tor 206,465 acres at 2 bushel* per acre, 412,930 bushels; consumption of 6 bus I) his per heid of population for eight months, 3,216,140 bushels; wheat and flosr ex purred to 30th October, 1900, 2,191,752 bushels; total oea--umptioa, 5,820,822 bushels, leaving on hand at 30t.1i October, 6,693,528 bushels, but the amount returned as en hand at that date was 4,506,412 bushela leaving a deficiency of 2,187,11 ft bushels.
