A srECiAL meeting of tho Town School Committee wsik beH at tha Council Chambers on Monday last. Pr.se it: Mesarr, W. A. Coilis (Ouairavui), F. BeUcioger, J T. While, H. £.. Oatiloy, and R, Todd, A Jotter w«s receivod from the Board enclosing application* from six caadi- j dates for tho position of third DSBisiaiit teacher at this Central School. After a lengthy diacu.s.sion it was resolved : •' That u letter be coat to ]
the Board in effect that us applications for the portion of third assist ant! teacher at the Chntral School were j called for in tSie middle of the holidays j and resulted in only six applications being seat in, the Board be recoup, mended to again call for applications bo as, if passible, to get a larger cuiibar of applieaats to select from, and that iu the memtitue th-j present applications be retaiaed unless withdrawn by applican's." It was further resolved, ''That the Board be informed that it has come to the knowledge of tho Committee that other teachers than those now applying weuld, if opportunity were aflerded them, apply for the position; this being an addicioaal reason for the Committee making the abjve recommendation for further advertising." Bjfore closing the meeting the following resolution was unanimously carriad :- " Tuat the New Plymouth Sehoal Committee desire to place oa rtcord, on behalf of themselves, the teachers and th« children under their • supervision, their gre't regies abd s.r----1 ro* at the national ha. ba- hee i I sustained thiough the lamented death i of Her Most Gracious MUj<'sty, Queen ■ Victoria.
