CONCILIATION BOARD.
THE SAWMILLSRS' DISPUTE. [PEB PBESS ASSSOIATIOM.] Wellington, January 23. The award of the Conciliation Bmrd in the sawmillers' dispute -was announced to-day. The principal recommendations are as follows: the week shall consist of 46 hours ; that for men working planing machines the minimum wage be £1 153 per week; men working circular saws, £2 8s ; engine-drivers, driving engines oyer 5 h.p, 43; under 5 h.p., £2 10s; yardsmen solely employed delivering timber; 43. The minimum wage of unskilled workers in other capacities, £2 sa. Casual labour, 8* 6d per day.
The Beard makes the usual recommendations for payment of overtime and holidays, and, on the question of apprentices, decides that each machiniss be allowed one bey, whose wages shall commence at 12s 6d per week with such gradual increase as shall be agreed upon,
