Komingto.i (chemist). Skerrnan & Co. (now premises), Mrs. Currie (fruiterer), G. W. D. Morris (srocei), Tc-mperanoj Hal!, Library, Yum L:o (fruiterer), J. W, Halt (dentist), and a portion tf Harper's stables. A Chinaman's cabinet" making shop was also destroyed. Only throe shops at the extreme end of Bruce-street are now standing. These would have been destroyed had the brigade not pulled Harper's stable-, down in tin 1 other street. Lirge sheets of iron were placed against a portion of tho Argylo stables. This proventcd tho fire from attacking thu Argyle Hnll and shops adjoining. Messrs, Ellis Bros, and Valder's store was damaged considerably, and it was only with tho assistance of wet blankets tbat tho building #as saved from being destroyed. The insurances are nat yet known. Wellington, January 21.
The damage at the Huntorville fire is estimated at £20,000, The following Companies aro intorosted in amounts varying from £BOO to £1,500: United, Impsrial Alliance, Australian Alliance, Commercial Union, Royal, Now Zealand, Standard, London suael Liverpool, Lateh. Nearly all the Fire Insurance Offices held riakß on the property destroyed in the fire at Huut:rvi!lo this morning. The following aro stated to bo the amounts:—United, £fioo (J. McKldowney £4OO, G. W. D. Morris, £75, Temperanca Hall and contents, £125) ; Standard, £380; Alliance, £450; Imperii!, £900; Australian Alliance, £550; Commercial Union, £450; L : vorpool, London and Globe, £800; National, £350; North Queensland, £l5O. The New Zoalund Company is understood to bo interested to the extent of £2750, part of which, however, is reinsured. Toe losses of the South British and Pfaceaiz Offios, are not yoc knwvn. The Argyle Hotel was a largo building of 50 rooms, ownod by T. and W. Young, and Dwan Bros, of Wellington. Auckland,-January 31. A fire in McKeo's grocary shop, Te Aroha, completely gutted the premises. The insurance in the Uuite4 being £2OO on stock.
