BPIiCIAL MIXTURES oan bo made at any time to suit farmers. Note—The "M " Manure gave the best results In proportion to ooßt out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Firm at Momohaki in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) : experiments made At Motashaki with Various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that iJic bust result was obtained from a mixture of one- 1 hird steamed bone dut'i and two-tiiirdi basic slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the butt result, at a minimum cost, was from a fli»xture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of tho W.M E) Co's "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components aa the W.M ii. Co.g« No. 3 Mixture, the proportions Jf/ng a little different. The furmor combination point|, o the fact, now generally recognised, that the value of bific slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under-estimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate, A perusal of the report of Mr. Gillandersj the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, which will be found in the Seventh Report of the Department of Agriculture, woild amply repay any farmer who finds a di(ficulty*'in •el*ctingjthe most suitable manures.
