The first p izo was won by Mr. SlcKav, of the Manaia Rifle Club, who made 23 at 200,11 at 300 and 25 (the possible) at SOOdys. j By the permission of the Sargt.Major, our informant attended the pavado of the newly-formed liawora iiifl.ix, who, he cays, will make the finest infantry corps on the coast. Tbe Hawera Hides are fortunate in having for timir Oolour-Swsjfc. a '.'onnfr noncommissioned of the Napier Guards (probably the best Infantry Company in the North Island), and the progress that the new corps has made in drill reflects grea'i credit on Colour.--Sert't. L. S rath, Tin' men are a remarkably even lot of good physi'p.e aud very attentive."
