There was a crowded attendance of buyers, and a good selection o£ merinos was offered, for which there was a strong continental competition, resulting in a rise o£ from b to 7£ per cont. above November rates. Crassbreds wore in leas demand, line from par to five per cent, advance, medium low and unchauged. The Union Bank dividend is seven per cent., reserve £25,090, carried forward £•22,189. At Eltham, on tha Hh inst.., there was a ' largo entry of cattle and keen competition throughout, most lines being disposed of at the hammer. At Hawera. on the 10th inst., the quantity advertised came foi ward. There was brii-k bidding for male cattle. Prices for other classes were somewhat lower. We quote: At Eltbara, store cows, L 3 9s to L 3 17s (id; cows and calves, L 4 7s (id; forward cows, L 3 ltis to L 4; fat cows, L 4 7s 6d to L 4 10j; 18-months quiet heifers, L2 10s to L2 IGa; 2 to 2|-year heifers, L 8 2s 6d to Lit ss; yearling heifers, L2 53 to L2 10j ; yearling steers, L2 15s to L2l7s; 12 to 18months steers, L3toL 3 7s Gd; weaners, LI to LI 9s. At Hawera—Forward bullocks, L 6 7s 6d to LB 12s; 2 to 2|-yaar steers, L 4 13s 6d to L 4 17s 6; 18-months to 2-year steers, L 3 10s to L 3 17s 6d; 12 tolß-months steers, L 3 to L 3 10s; weaners, LI Is to LI 10s; 2-year heifers, JL3 to L 3 ss; 2J -year heifers, L2 12s , fid te L2 18s; store cows, L 3 8s to L 3 15s: forward cows, L 3 15a to L 4; fat cows L4fls to L 4 10s; cows and calves, L 45sto L 4 10s. Sheep—Cull lambs, 6s 4d; ewes and lambs, all counted, 8s 2d.
