D., wes the son of Mr. Roherfi Creighton, of Carlisle, snd was born iu 1843 ; had a distinguished University career, becoming fellow and tutor of Mertoii CJ liege and s°li;ct preacher at Oxford. H'i han held several eminent ecclesiastical anpointments, including those of Canon of Worcester and of Windsor, Dean of Her Majesty's (Jhapels Hoy ], Bishop of Peterborough, and finally Bishop of London.
