Note—The " M " Manure gave the best results in proportion to cost out of 10 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1807 dec page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) : The experiments made at Momaliakl with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-09 show that ihe bimv result was obtained from a mixture qf one-third steamed bone dutt and two-thirdi baslo slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the beat result, at a minimum cost, was from a mixture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.H.H Co's "M ' Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M S. Co. s No. 3 Mixture, the proportions jeiug a little different. The former combination points o the faot, now generally recognised, that the value of batio slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, hiu been greatly under-estimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s .No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of the report; of Mr. Gillanders, the manager at Momohfiki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, whioh will be found in the Seventh Kepori of the Department, of Agriculture, wonld amply repay any farmer who fmdi a difficulty Jn "■electing the most suitable manures.
