Some two bundled and fifty well-known local people wen also present by invitation. Hie Excellency the Governor, the Hone. W. 0. Walker, Rolleston, and Bowea, tad the Bishop* of ChrUtchureh and Melanesia wore among the gneft*. There were no speeches, but Un. Deans, who was settled at Riccartoi befere the arrival of the first four ahipe, received her visitors on the lawn. The hall et her residence, which is built in the old English style, wasgreatly admired, aad it is noteworthy that the oak of which it is constructed waa grown upon the Kiccarton estate. A Mayoral banquet will be held to* morrow night.
