HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.

A POSTPONEMENT. Afteii considerable hesitation, and getting off two events under most unfavorable circumstances, it was decided to postpone the High fSchool spjrts, which were to have been held yeiterdiy (Thursday), till next Thursday. Th« wisdom of this decision was soon apparent, as the rain fell with great persistency all the afternoon. Notwith • standing this, quite a large number of friends of the school assembled until the large jpom was well filled. Here, thanks to the reotor, Mr. Priiham, and Mrs. Pridham and the assistant te ichern, assisted by a large number of past and present scholars, a moat enjoyable afternoon was spent, Two table?, beiutifully decorated with lloivers, were loaded with good things, and tea and cake, etc., were supplied in the mast liberal manner. The larfee number of voung people present, espacially the girls, soon forgot their disappointment, and entered very heartily into the entertainment of their numerous visitors, After tea had been dispensed, several young ladies, amongst whom were Misses Pridham, Ambury, and Drew, and Messrs. Ward, Millar, and others gave some capitally-rendered songs, while others gave instrumental selections, causing the afternoon to pass all too quiokly in a most enjoyable manner. Shortly after four o'clock the rector, Mr. Pridham, thanked all those who had attended, and expressed the hops that they would all return on Thursday next, and that fine weather would allow of the sports being held. The company then dispersed, the general feeling being that the thanks of everyone so fortunate as to be prapresent was due to Mr. and Mrs, Pridham, and their excellent stall' of teachers, for the splendid entertainment and good things provided. It is to "be hoped for the sake of the young people that next Thursday will be fine and the sports brought off successfully.
