PBB PRBS3 ASSOCIATION. Napieb, November 12, Judgment was given in the MagistfaV*'s Court to-day in the caw against 8.2U Patterson, of Patterson, Moss- * w«° r & Co., for a breach of the Stamp Act. The defendant took an unstamped promissory note for money lent and sa the borrower renewing he gave op the original note, taking anc- * ther. The Magistrate held there haJ been a substantial payment ef the first note, and that, as the note was payable at def nWant's oflLe, holding it there no due data, was equivalent to presentation, for payment. As such offences ~W$ comaiittod, but lees easily 'detected he imposed *h© snbstantial penalty of J2O and costs.
