BOROUGH COUNCIL

The following Committees met on Wednesday;—WdrksCommittee. Present: Or. Brooking (Chairman), The Mayor, Crs. Bellriuger and Stohr. Or. Bellriuger met with a hearty welcome from his brother Councillors ob his re-appearance after his trip, to England.

The Committee decided to recommend (1) that the young horse be sold to Mr. Struthera for £3O, the Council Co have the right to re-purchasa within 12 months at same price; (2) that lenders be called for forming to the full widcii, and metalling, Gover-street hill leading to the racecourse, the work to be done in February or March, and chat the spoil be deposited in Gilbertstreet gaily; (3) that the footpath in Melesworth-street in front of Mr. R, J, West's property be formed; (4) that the necessary labour be eaapieyed to lower water-pipe* in Vivian-street; (5) chat the request ,of Mr. Lealand and others to place seats on Woelcombe Terrace be granted; (6) that the applications of Messrs.! Jackson, Carter, and Barr-Brown to er«ot sign-boards >fc> granted; (7) that the Town Clerk consult the solicitor on the question of cuttings and fillings on street boundaries; (8) that the receipt of Mr. Wm. Courtney's letter be acknowledged, and that in accordance with cjie solicitor's advice. Mr. Courtney be notified to fill in the portion of the Morere swamp on section 707; (9) that the Chairman arrange for repairs to fencing at the Waterworks; (10) that quotations be obt nod locally for two cons of 3-inch pip, i and valves, etc.
