BELL BLOCK.

(from our own CORKESI'ONDEKT), I Ouit district has been suffering from a surfect of entertainments. Mr. Knott, with his kinematograpb, had a fair house, and a few night's after the St. Mary's choir boys gave their entertainnibnt, which desarrod a better audience. Mr. Johnstou (Mister Crawford) was •my succosiful with his songs, which were encored; the two youthful violinists also roc iivai greit applause. The Rov. Do Galway gave a lecture, illus- 1 tratud with lontorn views, te & sone- , what scanty audieuco, the schoolroom i baing used for the occasion. On Thursday evening the Baud of Hops held its final meeting for cho sea sod. There was a good attendance, and a pleasant oveniug was passed. Addresses wore given by Mrs. Douglass, the Rov.j licnuott, Mr. T. J. Bennett, and Mr. Waifcai, and a number of songs and recitation!!.

A orickot club has boan k bar ted and Ims hold an opening day at which afternoon tea was provided by several , ladies, among whom were Mrs. Bradley, Misses Street (2), Moby (2), Kelly, and Colson. Whether the poor display 1 of the mop, or thoir enthusiasm, has been the cause, I cannot say, but the ladies liavo determined to begin practising, and are forming a club of their own; scat a future date I msiy have the pleasure of recording a victory for thorn v/n '.hoold bands. Ono o: the bubjects often diicuv-od ■hureiu tho im<m! of hotol, aud opinions are vary divided. One party holds that it would lie a good wing, whilst the other .thinks tbat it .vould be > dreadful blow to the prosperity of tho district, and cause a gwr.t fall ii: tlw value of land and the removal of many settlers to othei places.
