ALLOCATION OF DISTRICTS UNDER THE MAORI ACTS.

Most of the new districts under the Maori Acts are now allocated, What is known as the Northern Maori District has, under the Maori Councils Act, been divided into six districts, following roughly the present county boundaries. The Eastern Mam District from Taur.inga to Wairarapa has beon split into seven, and the Western District has so far been apportioned into five; but the King Country and Waikato boundaries are not yet definitely settled. The basis of population is, approximately, about 2000 for each district. Under the Maori Lands Administration Act the Bast Coast, from Cape Runaway down to Cape Palliser, is divided into two districts; and the West Coast, from Wellington to Upper Wanganui, is made one district. The district north of Wanganui to Onehunga has not been settled up to the present. The Northern Maori electorate, however, has been made one district, and it is conincfuding llrewera, will form a separate district. The boundaries under both Acts will be gazetted shortly.
