buckland and sons' weekly ;; amotion report. - Auckland, October 19, Messrs. Buckmnd and Bonß' Report Horses.—The week has been a record one as far as the sale of horses is concerned. At the Haymarket oar weekly sale resulted in something fat above the average. Entries were numerous, equality good, and there were purchasers for all classes at .prices fully uj] to late quotations, if not better. At Pokekohe there were over 330 yarded, the greater number being of a good class' ■and under keen - competition prices ranged • from- LIS to L3O for the majority. Yornig 'medium draught mares were in- demand, and many sold at L2O to LSO, heavier daises L 25 to L3S, and a few really good draught maies L 37 10s to L4O, draught geldings L3llos to L 37 10s, and an exceptionally good five-year-old U3. Hacks and small horses haTe, during the last week, also sold well. The farm and draught classes at Pukekohe were a great credit to the district.
glides, skißS, tallow, etc.—At our usual weekly sale we sold abcmfc an average quantity of ox hides at 4d to 6}d, cow hides 3d to 3|d, calf 4£d to 6£d, horse hides 5s to -6s 3d .each. Mo good tallow came to hand, second qtality Iss 6d to 18s; bones, 4s to 5s per cwt. Sheep-skins brought up to 4s 3d tor best, but few sold at that price, the greater number telling from 2s ■Sd to. .3s 6d«ach. Felts, 8d to lOd; lamb»kins( 7d to. Is each. A few bales of wool sold at id to 4jd for long wools, and a few lots in bags 3d to 4d per lb. Grain, eto.—Maize, ex wharf, 2s 6d, supply plentiful, with a good demand; oats, southern feed, a penny per bushel cheaper, supplies rather in excess of demand; fowl wheat firmer; chaff advanced 5s per too, prime being now worth L 3 per ton, ex rail. At Remuera, dairy oows were at lste values, and brought from LI 10s to L 5 17s 6d; dry cows, L2 to U 2s; 3-year steers, L 4 to LB 69 eaoh. Fat and young calves, in short supply, were better worth. Fresh dropped, 5s to 9s; medium, 12s to 16s; heavy, up to L2 13s each. Fat cattle were penned in average numbers and scarcely kept last week quotations, but sold freely at from LI Is to LI 4s per 1001b; steers ranged in price from L 7 10s to Ll2 ]oa; cows, L 4 to L97s 6d each, Several truck loads of steers from the Waikato averaged over LlO 10s each. Fat sheep were penned in less than average numbers and were better worth, wethers bringing from 18s to LI 3s. One pen of seven very choice wethers reached LI 8s 6d; ewes, 15s to LI eaoh Fat lambs were in fair supply, and sold at good values throughout, bringing from 7s 6 i to 15s each, very few being sold under 10s 6d. The pig market is ntterly demoralised, .owing to swine fever bein* in thedistriot, . I several lots being condemned.
NOLAN, TONKB AND OO.'S STOOK REPORT. Haweka, October 19. At Eltham, on Tuesday, we had a !ull yard. Competition brisk through' lit, although prices were sot as high as late rates.
At Hawera, on Thursday, there was a fair muster of cattle. Bidding was brisk, a d. with one exception, all lines were cleared. We quote: At Eltham: Fat cows, Lsto L 5 10s; cows and calves, LI to L 4 10s; forward cows, Li ■ store cows, L 3 10s to L 3 15s; 2-year steers, L 3 12s fid to L 3 15s ; yearling steers, L2 10s to L2 15s; yearlings (mixed), L2 2s to L 2' ss; weaner calves, LI to LI 3s; empty heifers, L2 12a to L2 16s; springers, L 4 10s toLS. At Hawera: Yearlings (mixed), L2 to L 1 8s; yearling steers, L2 10s to L2 15s; 2year steers, L 3 10s to hi; fat cows, LI 12s (id to L 6; empty heifers, L2 19s to L 3 2s fid; forward cows, L 4; store cows, L 3 8s to L 3 10s; cows and calves (good), L 5 7s Gd; springers, L 4 12s Cd to L 5; dairy cows, Li 5s to L 5.
