The meeting of dairymen held at Hawera passed a resolution protesting against the restrictions on the forwarding of cheese to I the grader. One speaker said the reason of it was there being no room for clieeso at Motnroa.

At the District Couit on Thursday, His Honour District Judge Kettie drew the attenj tion of the D.O.A. to sections 1!) and 20 ol the Auctioneers Act of 181)1. Section IS) provides: " That every auctioneer shall apply the proceeds of sale when realised—(a) fi-r expenses, commission, and charges of sale; (b) to monies owing to the auctioneer by the vendor; (c) the balance exclusively for the vendor, or as lie may direct, and until paid such balance shall be paid into a Haul, to a general or trust account, and shall not jbe available for payment, of any other creditor of the auctioneer, nor be liable to attachment or execution at the instance of any other creditor. Any auctioneer contravening this section to bo liable to a penalty of £100." Section 20 provides: "That any auctioneer who—(1) fraudeutly converts to his own use the whole or any part of the balance of the proceeds of any auction, m fraudentlyj omits to pay the same to the person entitled thereto, shall be deemed guilty of larceny; (2) or, with intent to defraud, renders a false account in any material particular, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and be liable for imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years." At a meeting of representatives of dairy factories, held at Hawera, to consider the purchase of the Moturoa Freezing Works, after a long discussion it was resolved:— "That, in view of the Taranaki Freezing Works Company not agreeing to sell their works to us this month, and seeing that the New Plymouth end of the district is averse to the erection of new works in opposition to the Motufoa works, we deem it wise in our own interest that immediate steps be taken to erect freezing works at Patea or Opunakc, or where we thick they would be most suitable."

In the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Enabling Bill, power is given to the Taranaki Agricultural Society to lease for building purposes St. German Square. Mr. J.. Morison, of Stratford, auctioneer, advertises a capital dairy farm for lease as a going concern.' The rent is 10s per acre, and the cows can be obtained on easy terms. The land is close to a dairy factory and school.

One of the speakers at the dairy meeting at Hawera said there were dillieulties in the way of acquiring the Freezing Works at New Plymouth, and unless these were disposed ol early, they should take oilier action. He found that the works at i'atea, wluuli ha considerable storage capacity, and could he easily enlarged, were to bo had on reasonable terms.
