BIG RISE IN FREIGHTS.
I . (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, October 16. Information has been received that freights ex steamer from New York to the colony have gone up to forty shillings on kerosene and forty-live on general cargo, as against fifteen and twenty shillings respectively, the rate prevailing six wefks ago. The Shaw-Saville and New Zealand Shipping Companies are raising fares ten per cent. The increased rates are operating both homeward and outward, ==
