The English press resents Holland's effusive patronage and signal honours to Mr. Kruger. The Standard says Holland's action 18 provocative and insolent; that the Dutch are ungrateful and no longer oar friends, nor have any claims to our regards. The following colonials hare been appointed Second Lieutenants in the regiments indicated:—Privates Woods (New South Wales Mounted Infantry), Worcestershire Regiment; Mitchell New South Wales Mounted Infantry), Manchester Regiment; Knox (South. Australian), Royal Irish; Wallace (Third Queensland Contiugent), West Yorkshire; Neill (Victorian), Manchester ; Lieutenant Mace North Lancashire; Lieutenant Wylly (Tasmania), Berkshire. Mr. Michael Davitt contradicts the statement that he has been duillusioned with regard to the Boers, The disillusionment was attributed to him by some Noncomformists who met him on the homeward journey from South Africa. Received 21, 9.25 a.m. London, September 20, Lord Roberts reports that the Boers have destroyed several of their Long Toms and field guns, and that they have degenerated into marauding bands. Of the First Canadian Contingents ~ 590 returned from South Africa and the remainder have volunteered to remain throughout the campaign. 8000 BOERS RETREAT FROM EOMATI POORT. Holland has informed Great Britain she had offered a wirship owing to Kruger's health. Great Britain replied that it was not intended tointerfere withhis (Kruger's) journey. Generals Kelly-Kenny and Hart are pursuing marauding bands of rebels in the Doornberg and Potchefstroon districts respectively.
