SUPREME COURT.
FEB PBES3 ASSOCIATION. Invercabqill, September 20. In the Supreme Court Francis King was charged with compelling It. A. Elliot, of Fort rose, to receipt an account and give a cheque for a larger amount than was due to him, by presenting a loaded revolver at him. Ho was found guilty of common assault, with which ho was not charged, and the question will go to the Appeal Court. There iv,- b tin old promissory note from Elliot in tho nutter, and the jury seemed of opinion that King honestly believed the vulue of that note was still due and owiug him, and that his compelling Elliot to write out a cheque for a lnrgor sum than ho was ontitled to was not loubery. Further, King had loon bankrupt since the noto was made S3Vonteen years ago, and tho value, if unpaid, belongs to his creditors.
