The Daily News. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1900. KRUGER'S FLIGHT.
The news published in our cables today is by f.ii' the most important that has been received for some time past, Kruger has practically abandoned his state and people, and is said to be a prisoner at Delagoa Biy, where a British warship is lying to secure his safe keeping. Great Britain is not r likely, at this stage of the game, to stand any nonsense on the part of the Portuguese authorities. The proclamation issued by Lord Roberts, attended as it is by some remarkably rapid and successful movements of the British troops, will go a long way to convince f| the-Boers that the game is up, and j. that the sooner they accept the position the better for all p irties.
