MIXING The Manures are not mixed until the orders are sent out, and purchasers at their option can have the original manures sent to them in the maker's nags, and make the mixtures themselves. SPECIAL MIXTURES) can be made at any time to suit farmers. Note—The "M " Manure gave i._ best results in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Renort of Agricultural Department) : The experiments made at Momohaki Willi various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that ihe hist result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steamed bone dm<i and two-thirds basic sh (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the best esult, at a minimum cost, was from a mixture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.M.E. Co's "M " Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M.E. Co.'s No. 3 Mixture, the proportions being a little different. The former combination points to the faot, now generally recognised, hat the value of batio slag, also know as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under-eetimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s N 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thoma Phosphate. A perusal of the report Mr. Gillanders, the manager at Mom cki, embodying the results of the exper isnts referred to, which will be found n the Seventh RoporS of the Departmnt of Agriculture, wonld amply repay any farmer who finds a difficulty in selcctingthe most suitable manures.
