Trooper Bert Rusden, in a lettsr to his brother dated Manzinzama, July 21st, writes:—"We are still on the march. After landing at Beira we stayed there a week or two, and then took train to Bamboo Creek, Btayed there three days, then on to Marandalas. We were there a week. We then s arted on our march to Buluwayo, which took us 24 days, Wo had to walk about half-way and lead our horses. .... We used to get up at three every morning and march till about ten, then camp till 2 30, and march till six. Sometimes we did a longer march than usual, and one day we were on the move for 17 hours. Some nights it was very cold, and we could noo get any wood. We were al- ' lowed one blanket tosleep in, and often 1 one would wake up and think it had been raining, the dew falling so heavily When we arrived at Buluwayo Major Davies met us and took command. On the march now we don't got up till 5.30, One of our men died of fever at Beira. We lie.tr no war news whatever here, you hear more in New Zealand. We are bound now for Port Tuli, and we have another seven days march to get there, but I do not know where we shall go after that.
