SPECIAL MIXTURES can be made at any time to suit farmers. Note—The "M " Manare gave i.- best results in proportion to cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm at Momohaki in 1897 dee page 170, Fifth Reoort of Agricultural Department) : The experiments made at Momohaki with various Manures upon Turnips in the Season 1898-99 show that the BIST result was obtained from a mixture of one-third steamed bone dust and two-thirds basic si ' (.Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the best 'emit, at a minimum cost, was from a mixture of one-third Lawea' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the VV.M.E. Co's "M " Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M.E. Co.'a No. 3 Mixture, the proportions being a little different. Che former combination points to the fact, now generally recog. nised, hat the value of basic slag, als( know as Thomas' Phosphate, has beei greatly under-estimated. The W.M.E Go.'s N 4 Mixture contains one-third o; Thoma Phosphate. A perusal of the report Mr. Gillanders, the manager ai Momo ki, embodying the results of the experl ants referred to, whioh will b« found n the Seventh Report of the Departm nl of Agriculture, woild amply repay any farmer who finds a difficult yin selectingohe most suitable manures.
