BOERS LOOT LADYBRAND AND FLY BEFORE GENERAL HAMILTON. Received 7, 9.5 a.m. London, September 6. Fighting around Ladybrand has ceased. The British garrison did not hold the j town, but entrenched themselves in the mountain opposite. For three days the Boers shelled the British, who, hewever, only had five casualties. When General Bruce Hamilton approached on Tuesday evening the Boers fled, after looting Ladybrand aid capturing troops of British horses, through an escaped prisoner revealing where they were concealed,
REBELS THREATENING WEPENER. (Received 7,6.50 p.m.) London, September 6. A Boer commando is threatening Wepener. SIEGE OF LADYBRAND RAISED. BOER LOSSES AND RETREAT. Reoeived 7,10.10 p.m. London, September 6. The Boers lost 24 killed and 36 wounded at Ladybrand, They retreated north to Allandale.
