STRATFORD NOTES.
[Prom Our Own Correspondent.] Two new companies of interest to the district are in course of flotation. One l is the Mangatoki 00-operative Dairy, Company, and the other J, and H. Buchanan, Ltd. The former company is taking over the Loan and Mercantile Dairy factory at Mangatoki, and mean ta run it as a eo-operative concern. J, and H. Buchanan, Limited, has been formed to take over Messrs. Buchanan Bros.' Bacon Factory on the Eltham 'Road. There seems no reason why both concerns should not flourish from ; the start. Both have the experience of others to guide them as to what to ivoid.
The question of the coal deposits at Whangamomona is not being allowed to lapse. Mr, S. H. James has been despatched to Wellington to bring the matter to the notice of the Government. We must agitate, agitate, agitate, till the light railway is an accomplished fact.
General satisfaction is expressed at the success of our deputation in conserving the Opaku reserve for Taranaki
