Lieut.-Colonel Newall has cabled to Mr. Seddon that the Fifth Contingent are well, = PRIVATE STORES FOR THE CONTINGENTS. A CAUTION TO SENDERS. Wellington, August 31. The Governor received the following cable from Sir A. Milner: —" Owing to the great difficulty in forwarding private stores to the front, I would suggest that senders of such perishable goods as apples, etc., run a great risk of their being wasted, owing to the delay in despatching them, There are large accumulations here already, and with only a single line of railway on which to forward them."
