HOW DR. LEYDS AGENT WAS FINANCED.
(Reoeived 29,6.50 p.m.) London, August 28. Correspondence seized at Pretoria shows that at Kruger's request the Netherlands Railway Company financed Hargrove, one of Leyds' agents, who was afterwards closely associated with J. W. Sauer, ex-Minister of Public Works of the Cape Parliament, It was during Sauer's fruitless pacification mission in the Woderhouae district, Cape Colony, early in the war, when he warned the burghers of the terrible punishment that was to be expected for disloyalty, and the hopelessness of opposing she power of Great Britain.
