Stephens, a hitherto highly resp?ct;d citizen, Duplicate receipt books were adopted. The amount is estimated at from £4OOO to ■£sooo. Every information is being given the directors, and the losses will not effect the Society seriously. CmusTCEUKCiit, August 27. It is reported that there are irregularities in the accounts of a Building Society at Ashburton. Between £4OOO and £SOOO being involved. The irregularities, it is said, have been going ou for several years. The matter will probably come before the Court.
