ATTEMPTED MI7KDER AND SUIOIDB. 1 [PUB PBKSS AB3OOIATION.I Auckland, August 22. A telegram from Mangonui states that, at Fairburn, Captain Rogers fired three shots at Mr. W. A. Gardiner, one shot taking effect. The wound is not serious, Captain Rogers is said to lmvo taken poison afterwards. The parties were rival carriers, and jealously was said to be the cause of the quarrel.
