THE SURRENDER OF RUSTENBURG. KRUGER DISCOURAGED, MOVEMENT OF BRITISH FORCES. (Received 19, 9.50 a.m.) London, July 18. President Krugsr is greatly discouraged by the surrender of Rustenburg. General Botha is discontented because President Kruger is retaining big guns at Machadodorp, The British authorities arrested 380 vagrant foreigners at Pretoria on suspicion of their intention to raise a riot. The cavalry and mounted infantry ■columns, commanded by Generals lan Hamilton, French, and Hickman, are forcing the Boers, under General Botha, eastward from the vicinity of Pretoria towards Middleburg. General Buller is meanwhile advancing to the north-west from Standerton.

MOVEMENTS OF BRITISH FORCES. THE OOUNTRY BEING CLEARED. (Received 20, 1.33 a.m.) London, July 19. General Hamilton, at .Harman's Kraal, and Generals Methuen and Smith-Dorrien are clearing the country between Krugersdorp and Rustenberg. BOER ATTACKS REPULSED. NEW ZEAIiANDERS TAKE PART. TWO OF THEIR OFFICERS MISSING AND ONE WOUNDED. Received 20,1.33 a.m. London, July 19. The Royal. Irish Rifles, West Australians, and Colonel Yaughan's New Zealanders, on Monday, gallantly repulsed repeated and determined attacks on General Pole-Carew's position near Pretoria. The Boers lost 15 killed, while 50 were wounded and four captured. Seven British were killed, including Lieut. Borden, a son of a Canadian minister, who was twice mentioned in despatches for hisintrepidi'y. Lieut. Findlay, of New Zealand, was severely wounded. Captain L. Bourne and Lieut. J. Cameron (New Zealanders) are missing. Twenty Irish Rifles and others are missing arid 26 wero wounded.
