FOOTBALL NEWS.

STAB I. V. XUKAPA I. On Thuisday, in the Recreation Grounds, the above teams nwt, for the second time this season, when there was a large attendance of tie public. Great interest was taken iu tho match, owing to the narrow margin by which the Stars secured victory in the previous game. The game was, corsidi-iitig the sloppy nature of the grous d, a very fair expositi' d of football, and tr.waids the call of time the eptctators were ! routed to a great pitch tf txcitement. ' In the first ppnll Star pctrcd a try ' through the agency of A. G-wgp, after a fine bit of ploy betweeu A Humphries', L. Allen, and A. M lutyre, but 'here was no further fccore, though Tukapa were several times within an ace of crossing tbe blacks' line. L. Allen, also, by prettily intercepting a pass, nearly added to Stars' score. In tbe eecond spell Tukapa had undoubtedly the best of the game, and at one time ran over the blacks. Their forwards were too powerful for the Stare, whose backs', however, were

vastly superior to the blues'. During the second spell, Brown (Tukapa) received a nasty fall by colliding with one of bis own team, and had to be carried off the field. W. Prior took his place. For the winners, A. Humphries, L. Allen, and Mclntyre played splendidly, their passing being excellent. D. Geerge, Stroud, and F. Hammocd were also very prominent, while A, Nichols, at full, saved his side on several occasions/ On the Tukapa side, S. Mynott, Ridland, Fookes, and Morey were the best of the backs; while of the forwards, Bendall and Seamark were the be3t of a good paek, De Launay on the wing also putting in a lot of work. Mr. Ward refereed, and the touch-judges ] were Messrs. F. Bellringer (Star) and G. Tabor (Tukapa). Tukapa 111. met Inglewood 111. on the High School Ground, when the town team won by 23 to 0. Inglewood I. beat Clifton I. by 6 toO.
