Another plague scare has arisen in 3 Auckland. A man named Kelly, foreman 3 in a gum store, died late on Friday night in Upper Queen-street. He had been ill since Sunday last. On Saturday morning his two medical attent dants reported the case as suspicious to . the local authority. Dr. King (city [ medical officer) and Dr. Baldwin . (Government Sanitary Commissioner) , were called in, and xnnde a.pont-mortem, } with the result that thoy considered , the case sufficiently suspicious to order : quarantine, but reserved final judgment . pending tho result of a bacteriological , and microscopical examination, for which specimens were sent to Wel- • lington by the Qairloch to-day. The , body was buried on Saturday in an isolated part of Waikumete Cemetery. Kelly's late residence was immediately quarantined, and when 'ic was'found that the children had, since the death, been sent to their grandmother, both the grandmother's houses (one in Liver-pool-street and one in Chapel-street) were quarantined. The police are guarding the three quarantined houses. All the medical men in town met in conference with the Mayor and the ' local Board of Health this afternoon.
