Note—The "M" Manure gave the best results in proportion ti cost out of 19 experiments with Champion Swfdo Turnips at the Government Experimental Firm at ' Momohaki in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Repait of Agricultural Dspartacent) : The experiments made at Momohaki with various Manuies upon Turnips in the Season 189S-99 showihat ihe b»st result was obtained from a mixture of one-third eteame l bone dust and two-tnirds baa c s'ag (Thomas' Phospl.ate), whilst the best resu't, at a minimum cos*, was from a mixture of one-third Lawes' Superphosphate and two-thirds of the W.M.K. (Jo's "M" Manure. The latter mixture contains the same conponen's as he VV.M.E. Co.'a No. 3 Mixture, tfe (.roportions bting a little difteie jt. The former coin ination points to the fact, now geneial'y recognised, that the value of batic slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has teen greatly under-estimated. The VV.M.E. Co.'sNo. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas'Fh-sphate.
